Former Communications Minister under the erstwhile Mahama administration Felix Kwakye Ofosu has taken a swipe at President Akufo-Addo for his stance on the chastisement of the NPP’s vigilantes.

Mr. Kwakye Ofosu’s critique comes in the wake of the President’s assurance of dealing with the rampant activities of political party vigilantes, particularly the NPP’s.

Speaking at the 2017 Ngmayem Festival at Manya Krobo on Friday, President Akufo-Addo indicated that the law will work without regard for partisan considerations.

“…I want to reiterate the commitment of our government to maintaining the peace and security in of our country. The application of the laws of the land will occur, in the words of the judicial oath, without fear or favour, affection or ill-will, and without recourse to the political, religious or ethnic affiliations of any citizen of the land.”

“When you fall foul of the law, you will be dealt with accordingly, and the law enforcement agencies, including the Judiciary, must ensure this is done,” he stated.

But in a Facebook post, Kwakye Ofosu lashed out at the President, asserting his comments on the issue were irrelevant.

He further noted that the NPP led by President Akufo-Addo have taken a nonchalant approach to the vigilantism in the country because they are counting the political damage it would do their campaign.

He also chided the President for allowing such groups to be formed under his leadership at the party to begin with.
