Leader of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), Nana Addo Danquah, as part of the party’s manifesto, has pledged to develop a “Youth in Sports” module to support young sportsmen and women and to create job opportunities for them.
The neglect of sports by politicians in recent years, has led to the downward surge in the overall development of sports across the country.
Young men and women of today see sports as a less lucrative industry, thereby reducing their interest in it and, on a wider scale, preventing the harnessing of their sports potential to the benefit of the country.
The manifesto, which was launched last week, further revealed an investment in a special “Women in Sports Programme” to help unearth and support female athletes across the country.
With less than two months to the general elections, Sports Crusader will interrogate issues raised by all political parties’ in their campaigns, with respect to the development of sports in the country.
