Former Ismaily attacker Emmanuel Osei Banahene has declared his readiness to play for the Black Stars should coach Kwesi Appiah hand him a call-up.

Banahene who recently parted ways with Turkish side Saliurfaspor believes that he is matured enough to represent the country.

The 28-year old disclosed in an interview with Ghanaweb that he feels saddened by the fact that some of the players he began his football career with are now playing for the Black Stars and he is yet to gain a call-up.

“I played with most of the current Black Stars players in the past and it's sad that they have progressed to that level and I’m yet to gain an invitation. I’m ready and should coach Kwesi Appiah invite me, I will do my best and prove to anyone that I am capable of playing for the Black Stars. I believe in Kwesi Appiah and I know he will call me at the right time”.

Touching on Ghana’s World Cup chances, the former Hearts of Lions striker admitted that Ghana’s chances are extremely slim but did not rule out the possibility of qualifying to the Mundial.

“Qualifying for the World Cup will be very difficult but I believe in the players. They will do their best to make Ghana proud”, Banahene said.
