The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has signed a five-year sponsorship deal with Zylofon Cash, as they are now the headline sponsors of the Ghana Premier League (GPL).

At a very colourful ceremony at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel on Thursday morning, the three-year sponsor-less spell of the GPL, was finally broken by Zylofon Cash as they sealed a deal with the GFA for an undisclosed fee.

Speaking at the event, Executive Officer of Zylofon Group, Nana Appiah Mensah highlighted the prowess Ghana has attained in the area of football and how this step by the company would help develop local football.

“Ghana is known in the world over for our football prowess more than that of our cherished cash crops like cocoa, pineapple and other mineral resources which includes gold, bauxite among others. It is very pivotal as a country that we replenish the area of football, which is the heart of the country.

“We at Zylofon think that, football has such power to transform the lives of youth in Ghana which strongly aligns with our groups’ mantra ‘Ghana shall prosper’. As such Zylofon Cash has taken the decision to be the headline sponsor of the GPL for the next five years,” he announced.

Mr. Kwasi Nyantakyi, president of the GFA, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Zylofon Group for the bold step to salvage the GPL.

“We are eternally grateful to the Chief Executive of Zylofon Group, Nana Appiah Mensah and his team for their decision to invest in the Ghana Premier League and Ghana football.”

“I would like to assure you that your decision to come on board as a sponsor is a laudable step and a worthy cause.” He added, ‘’today Zylofon Cash, one of the corporate brands, is joining the GPL family as the title sponsor, which means that, as appropriately advised the GPL would now be known as the Zylofon Cash Premier League.’’

Mr. Majeed Bawah on behalf of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Isaac Asiamah highlighted the significance of the partnership but urged Zylofon to diverge into supporting other sporting disciplines in the quest to help the development of sports.

“I’m delighted that one of the rising brands in the corporate world is joining GFA as the official sponsor of the Premier League. Zylofon Cash is confirming its confidence not only in football, but sports in general as powerful marketing tool.

“I urge Zylofon Cash to consider sponsoring other sporting disciplines and not just for advertising sake but a charitable contribution to the development of the society in general,’’ he stated.

All 16 Premier league clubs would benefit from this sponsorship deal as percentage as well as the officiating fees for the Division One League clubs.
