Captain of the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan says he prays for an injury-free season so he can get back to his best.

Asamoah Gyan has played only one game for his club Kayserispor in 2018, and is yet to fully recover from a debilitating injury-plagued career the last few years.

Speaking to Accra-based Hot FM, he said, “I am not really bothered about my injury situation because if you are a player, you know it is part of the game. I just pray I will be fit so I can get back to my best.

“As a player, when you recover from injury, you need a couple of games in order to get back to the top level.

“It’s all about consistency, and going on and off will not help get to the level I want. I will get to the top if I don’t suffer any injury.

“I must admit the injury has affected my sharpness, and I need more playing time to get back to my best. My critics can judge me after 10 games if I am not injured”, he added.

Gyan also justified his move to Asia, and mentioned that has enabled him to help the economy and it wasn’t just about the money.

“I have done my best for Ghana by creating jobs in the country.

“In Ghana I have employed 300 people and I pay them every month. I also pay taxes. So I am doing my best in Ghana’s economy. I haven’t been to a leadership school but I have been doing a lot in the economy.

“When I moved from England to UAE, people said I moved because of money; when I moved to China, they said the same thing. I will say the money I got is what I’m investing in the country; I have created jobs in the nation.”
