The Western Regional office of the Land Commission is mapping out strategic plans to deal with all land issues and corrupt practices at the commission in the region.

The new strategic plans will enable the commission to reduce litigation involving the commission and to help build a good public image for the Land Commission.

This came to light during an orientation for members of the Regional Lands Commission at Sekondi.

The members were taken through land documentation, lease and assignments, stool and government lands.

The programme afforded the new members of the commission the opportunity to study site plans and plotting, preparation of land evaluation reports, rent management and preparation of inspection reports.

According to the Western Regional Director of Land Commission, Karim Abdul Razak, his outfit has started solving the major land issues in the region by using dialogue to mitigate the challenges being faced by some landowners in the region.

He stated that the orientation programme was to help staff to be guided by the mandate of the commission.

He also emphasised that the new strategies will critically look at the land issues at the court and settle them.

According to Mr. Razak, his office has also lined up programmes to educate the public on how to purchase and prepare a proper land documentation. He said since they have some chiefs on the board, issues on land dispute will not be difficult to settle.
