The National Executive Council of the National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) has suspended the president of the association Philip Quaye following allegations of malfeasance leveled against him and stated misconduct towards council members.
A statement signed by Acting NASPA president, Mohammed Hardi, has therefore warned the general public not to deal with the suspended president.
Meanwhile, the National Service Secretariat has suspended the mandatory insurance policy for national service personnel replacing it with an optional insurance package for interested persons.
A statement issued by Acting Executive Director, Ussif Mustapha, said the decision to make the insurance policy optional was taken at an emergency Executive Council meeting of the NASPA.
Several service personnel kicked against the mandatory policy which allowed the NSS to make monthly deductions of GHS15 from personnel allowance for insurance cover.
