NDC didn’t lose 2016 polls because Mahama was a bad candidate - Kofi Adams

According to the National Organizer of the opposition Democratic Congress (NDC), the party did not lose the 2016 polls to the then opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) because John Mahama was a bad candidate.

“I know why we lost. …we lost not because we had a bad candidate”, the staunch supporter of former President and the party’s presidential candidate for the last general elections revealed.

“Anyone who goes out there to go and say that we lost the election because President Mahama was a bad candidate is presenting falsehood”.

“Any NDC member who goes about blaming the loss on a candidate like that must not be listened to”, Kofi Adams spoke on Top Story on Joy FM but refused to ascribe reasons why the NDC lost

“You in the media know that the NDC did not lose the election because we have a bad candidate”, he told host Evans Mensah in a telephone interview.

Akufo-Addo garnered 5, 716, 609 votes, representing 53.84 percent to snatch the presidency from former Mahama who secured 4,713,277 votes, representing 44.40 percent.

The NDC also lost more than 40 parliamentary seats to the NPP, which gave the latter majority in Parliament. Akufo-Addo won the election after a third term bid.

But Mr.Adams has observed that the NDC currently needs support to wrestle political power from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) 2020 and former President John Dramani Mahama is the right person to unite the people for this course.

“If any other person has funds and wants to support we are willing to receive that. …Our party members need support and we are asking them to come and support”.
