Former Trades and Industry Minister in the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah has stressed the need for the party to go to the 2020 polls with a credible and new candidate.

According to him, it will diffuse long time perception the party lacks competent and qualified persons to manage the country’s resources anytime the party is in government.

“The rise in public perception that the NDC does not have the men to lead when in government will water down”, the former minister explained in an interview with mynewsgh.com‘s Ashanti Regional Correspondent Kwabena Danso-Dapaah.

The 2020 presidential hopeful also stated the party will need a presidential candidate with a committed background to fighting corruption under his administration to save the party from every corruption tag.

“In my [former] ministry you are aware when there was corruption allegations against a certain Chief Executive Officer who has been a very good friend mine I had him investigated”, he stated.

According to Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah 2020 general elections will be a crucial one therefore NDC will need a candidate to wrestle power from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He therefore described the upcoming general elections as the biblical fight between David and Goliath the NDC should look at it as such.

“Like in the Bible, NDC will need David to fight Goliath NPP. …and I am the David”, Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah told party members in Asawase Constituency in Kumasi.

The astute politician and communication specialist also called for support of old party executives to enable them fight the ruling party come 2020.
