A final year student of Osino Presbyterian Senior High School Kelvin Asiedu has drowned in an abandoned galamsey pit.
The body of the deceased boarding student was retrieved Thursday around 10pm by community members. It has been deposited at the Kibi Government Hospital by the Osino Police.
Assembly Member for the area, Stephen Dompreh told Starr News the deceased student was part of students writing their mock examination preparing for the West African Senior Secondary Examination (WASSCE), but on their return to the school Thursday, it was alleged they went swimming in the abandoned galamsey pit.
According to the Assembly Member, mates of the deceased failed to notify school authorities early when the incident took place.
Starr News has gathered that some students of Osino Presby SHS resort to the abandoned pit to wash their cloths, bath and swim due to water challenges.
Investigation is currently ongoing in the case.
