Tension is brewing in the Asante-Mampong Nursing and Midwifery Training college in the Ashanti region following Ministry of Health reinstatement of suspended Principal of the school Mrs Ruby Adom.

Mrs Adom was suspended by the ministry in 2016 for charging exorbitant unapproved fees under the authority of former minister Alex Segbefia.

She was asked to step aside prior to an investigation while refunds were made to the victims.

The Deputy Principal of the school was appointed by the ministry to act in the absence of the accused Principal.

But a group known as Concerned Youth of Mampong is raising concerns over reinstatement of the suspended Principal describing her as corrupt.

According to the group, Mrs Adom doesn’t merit to be in the helm of affairs of the school again after she was found guilty of charging unapproved exorbitant fees in 2016.

A letter dated June 19, 2017 and signed by the Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyemang Manu announced her reinstatement.

The letter also adds that the acting Principal should hand over to Mrs Adom and revert to her previous position.

But secretary of the group Kwabena Attakora Kyeremateng who describes the development as unfortunate wants the health ministry to explain why the principle has been reinstated after their investigation.

The secretary for the Association Kwabena Attakora Kyeremanteng expressed fear that the reinstatement of Mrs Adom will psychologically affect students and the entire school arguing that she has already lost control of the school.

He wondered why the Akufo-Addo’s government would take such a drastic decision.
