Sorry, but it doesn't always happen like that. In fact, it doesn't matter whether or not someone in the NPP highest ranks ever paid him a visit. So long as someone in the Party hierarchy like the MP paid him a visit that is fine. But what he could solicit for is financial help to pay for his medical expenses. And that, strictly, should not be fully borne by the Party. If he wasn't an Official of Party at the time of the accident but only a fanatical supporter, the Party does not bear the responsibility for his accident and therefore cannot be expected to pay for his bills.
It would, then, be out of sheer magnanimity for any of the Party leaders to go further to help pay for his bills. And in fact, I would suggest that he appeals to the whole Ghanaian Citizenry for such assistance.
When we put our lives online to help a cause, we cannot wholly transfer our responsibility to extricate ourselves from any difficulty we encounter on the way to others who share our aspirations in that cause. We would instinctively see those folks as our first line of contact to seek any help, especially, because they are the very people who may know us best under that circumstance for what we stood for. But it would be wrong for us to think those folks owe us the obligation to pay for our bills relating to that difficulty.
The burden of the accident, including the near-death physical threat and pain, as well as the Medical bills, are all part of the sacrifice that he accepted to make for the cause. It would have been so for everyone else in that cause.
It should be a lesson to all of us, as to how far we need to go in following a Party Leader. If we want to be fully taken care of by the Party when we get into trouble, then we must seek a formal position its Administration.
Right now, the poor guy can only hope that someone sitting comfortably up there somewhere in Government, partly due to his contribution in campaigning for the Party, would think kindly of him to help him out.
Long Live Ghana!!!
