West Ham forward Andre Ayew has bemoaned his side's lack of killer instincts in the English Premier League this season.

The Hammers started the campaign with dreams of finishing in the European places, but find themselves 13th in the table, with 37 points after 33 matches, after Saturday's 2-2 draw with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

Slaven Bilic's side have effectively lost 22 points from winning positions - the most in the top flight - having twice squandered a lead against the Black Cats.

From a personal perspective, Ayew was happy with his performance, having bagged his fourth goal in eight appearances when he opening the scoring in the fifth minute.

"I'm confident at the moment and confident for my team-mates too," the 27-year-old told the club's official website. "It wasn't a bad game from us collectively but we're disappointed to have not taken the three points.

"It was a tough game and we're disappointed to concede in the last minute. That's happened a few times now but we're ready to prepare for Everton and that's going to be a tough game.

"I think this season has been difficult season in many ways. We just need to work hard to gain confidence and when we're leading, we went back too much and don't go forward.

"It happens when you haven't got the results you have wanted. I know we will solve this problem before the end of the season."
