Swansea City forward Jordan Ayew believes lessons from last season will push them to greater heights in the next campaign.

The Jacks endured a difficult time last season, leading to a long relegation battle, which almost took away their Premier League status.

Paul Clement's outfit only had their stay confirmed on the penultimate matchday, and Ayew hopes the struggle will guide their path in the coming football year.

"It was a really stressful season, and now we need to rest well and come back fresh," Ayew said, according to Eurosport.

"We know what to do when we come back, we've set our standards.

"We ended with 29 points [in the second half of season] and that is a really good tally.

"We need to build on this now and hopefully next season, we will not have this situation.

"That's our plan because we want to keep the momentum going for next season."

In arguably their most challenging season in recent times, Swansea picked only 12 points from their opening 19 games, letting in 44 goals in the process.

However, eight wins in their last 18 games were enough to save their blushes.

Ayew joined the Jacks in January, and made 14 topflight outings for the side.
