Ghana International, Jonathan Mensah, is gradually gearing up for the Major League Soccer(MLS) after he was acquired from Russian club,Anzhi Makhachkala, by Columbus Crew SC.
The 26-year-old was part of Ghana’s squad together with fellow club teammates Harrison Afful, at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon where Ghana was fourth-placed.
According to the highly experienced defender, he has always anticipated playing in the MLS as he sought advice from Afful, when pondering a potential move to the MLS.
“”He explained a lot to me,” Mensah said of Afful. “And I’m glad to kind of like get into the team myself, see what he was talking about. It’s a very true style of play; it’s very good,” Mensah told the Columbus Dispatch
Mensah highlighted how the performance of the Africa Cup of Nations “wasn’t bad, but the fourth-place finish wasn’t what Ghana wanted.
He added: “Now we can focus on the club level. I’m just glad to be here and wish to help the team every time we play.”
Meanwhile, the league is scheduled to start on the 4th, March, 2017.
