Black Stars Assistant Coach and Home-based CHAN Black Stars handler, Maxwell Konadu, on Wednesday said the team was optimistic of not only beating Burkina Faso on Sunday but qualifying for CHAN.
The 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) will be hosted by Kenya from Jan. 11 to Feb. 2, 2018.
Konadu made the assertion in an interview upon arrival in Burkina Faso capital of Ouagadougou while reacting to the team’s preparedness for the Sunday’s qualifier.
He said that the team’s expectation was positive and with such state of mind, victory was guaranteed. “The players are working hard to make sure the team qualifies for CHAN and we are very optimistic of qualifying,’’ Konadu said.
The coach, who restated the team’s readiness to qualify for the championship, appealed to Ghanaians to support them.
The home-based Black Stars defeated Great Olympics by 2-0 and went ahead to pip Elmina Sharks. The games were preparatory to their 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) first leg qualifier against the Stallions of Burkina Faso.
The team arrived in Burkina Faso with an 18-man squad, 9 technical staff, 3 management members, an accountant from the Sports Ministry and a media officer.
The team is currently lodging at the Palace Hotel in Burkina Faso
