Ghanaian boxer, George Ashie
Consultant for MTK Global International Mike Altamura, has confirmed that their charge George Ashie will return to the ring this August in United Kingdom (UK).
According to Altamura, Ashie will take on a well credible opponent in a title fight late August.
“It looks like Ashie will fight late August in UK,” Altamura told Boxingghana.com.
“We are still organizing and we will confirm everything when we are done.”
MTK Global International, a Dubai based promotional outfit signed Ashie onto their promotional banner last two months.
Ashie was touted as one of the boxers to get Ghana a world title, but his career took a nose dive following his lost to compatriot Emmanuel Tagoe six years ago.
The Bukom native is now warming himself into the game again – two months ago he won the WBO interim Africa lightweight strap after claiming a majority decision win over South Africa’s Michael Mokoena.
Following his win, he is now ranked number 15 by the WBO.
