Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has stated that Ghana is a very attractive destination for investors in the aviation industry as the country prepares to host the maiden Aerospace and Aviation Exhibition for Africa in October.

Former President Kufuor noted that Ghana is a hub for air travellers across the world and stressed that “we must portray ourselves confidently that this is the place for investors to look at.”

Speaking in an interview with the media during a courtesy call on him by the organisers of the African Airshow, the Former President said “the fact that all these airlines fly from here is what should make the market to stage a show.”

“If you want a place on the African continent to invest, look to Accra-Ghana. Ghana is the gateway to Africa and the government is putting together legislation that would incentivise investors and you won’t lose when you come to Ghana.”

He further explained that the expo will expose Ghana to the rest of the world adding that the centrality of Accra in global affairs makes it the best investment destination.

According to him, the expansion of the airport by the Ghana Airport Company makes it attractive to have all the services for safe aviation.

He also added that, “around the airport, we have a city that is developing very beautifully and decently with good hotels. They can walk around without fear, and we need to expose this to the world,” he added.

Chief Executive Officer of Origin8, the official event organisers and fundraisers, said “we believe that it is a sector that is hidden from the public. The public doesn’t know much about what is happening in the aviation sector.

“If you look at the contribution of aviation to the economy of developed countries like Dubai, Qatar, US and the UK then, you know that it is a strategic sector in which we need some form of concentration.”

The maiden Aerospace and Aviation Exhibition for Africa brings together major industry players in the aviation sector to discover latest developments and innovations.

The Expo also provides an opportunity for manufacturers and service providers in the sector to explore and meet potential customers.

The Aerospace and Aviation Exhibition for Africa is the first Air Expo to be held in Ghana, from October 24 to 26 of this year at the Kotoka International Airport.

This maiden expo will give us the opportunity to discuss best practices in the industry, and share ideas in seminar sessions.

Origin8, Ghana’s only true Integrated Marketing Communications Company, has been named the official event organiser and fundraiser for this expo.

The task involves driving the sponsorship of this expo, and conducting the necessary negotiations and correspondence from now to the end of the show in October.
