Former Member of Parliament for Obuasi East has dismissed media reports that there is a powerful cabal at the Jubilee House, official seat of Ghana’s government that is influencing appointments by the president.

According to Edward Ennin, President Akufo-Addo is solely in charge of his appointments and no powerful group or individual is operating anywhere near the Jubilee House.

Ennin discloses, he equally believed there was someone calling the shots at the presidency until he had a personal experience and that when he realised that the president is very decisive on his appointments.

The former law maker was responding to media reports that appointments scandal has hit the presidency while speaking to host of Abusua Nkommo, Kwame Adinkrah.

News broke over the weekend that a powerful clique was operating inside the three months old government of Nana Akufo-Addo, which is announcing appointments, forging appointment letters and dispatching people to state institutions on behalf of the President without his authority.

According to the report, the clique appears to be forging the not-too-difficult signature of President Akufo-Addo on his green official letterhead and offering appointments to people.

It would be recalled the names of former Members of Parliament for Bantama, Henry Kwabena Kokofu and Nsuta Kwaman Beposo, Osei Kwame-Prempeh have variously been announced for Chief Executives Officer for Forestry Commission and GOIL which turned out unconfirmed.

Subsequently, different names were mentioned to replace such people which many have blamed on indecisiveness on the part of president Akufo Addo.

But Edward Ennin has dismissed the claims saying, “the president is in charge of his own appointments.”

Ennin said, “no one should be deceived by social media appointments…the only appointment is what the president makes on an official letter bearing his original signature.”

“Look, let me tell you…I also thought some people were influencing appointments until I engaged the services of Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko on a totally different issue and he couldn’t to deliver, that was when I realised no one can lobby the president,” he disclosed.

“Gabby came to my house and we discussed a lot of issues with the hope that he could pull some strings, unfortunately nothing happened and I respected Akufo-Addo’s independence,” he added.

He said, “Kwame, all the people you see loitering around the presidency claiming to be powerful are all nobodies…they can’t even near the man how much more influence him.”

“I will advise anyone who is expecting appointment to look up to God and finally the president, any other person that promises you appointment is lying to you”, he concluded.
