The General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia has envisaged that the appointed Information minister with three deputies will only be engaging in ‘azar’ activities which will not be beneficial to Ghanaians.

According to him, these ministers who have been tasked to do damage control for the government will not add any value to the ministry as Ghanaians are made to believe.

He said the ministers will only be singing praises of the Akufo-Addo’s government without painting the true picture of the economy to Ghanaians even when things go bad.

Mr Nketia stated that the work load is heavy for the government hence the ‘unnecessary’ appointments which is creating tension in the country.

Speaking with Kwame Adinkra on Abusua FM’s Abusua Nkommo, he wondered why the government will detach the Information ministry from Communication ministry when the two could merged to work effectively by cutting down cost on ministerial appointments.

‘These information ministers’ work will only inure to the benefits of the government. Why appoint three deputies to head one ministry, what at all will they be doing? if not propaganda work for the government. They (Akufo-Addo’s government) cannot do the work, but they are finding ways to convince Ghanaians that they are working around the clock to turn things around,’ he claimed.

He mocked the Akufo-Addo’s government for underestimating the presidency saying the president is in a panic mood.

Mr Nketia objected to the creation of Minister of State at the Office of the President in charge of Public Procurement to be headed by the deputy majority leader Sarah Adwoa Sarfo.

A section of Ghanaians have criticised the President for the huge size of his appointments describing it as ‘job for the boys’.
