A Ghanaian owned construction and drilling company is looking for an experienced

Finance Manager/Head of Accountswith 10 years+ experience in the construction or drilling company for immediate employment.

Responsibility:This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining an effective and efficient financial management system, to support effective decision-making, planning as well as maintaining sound financial management controls and ensuring that these controls are adhered to by all staff.


As the Head of Accounts, you would be required to play the following roles:

  • Payroll Management
  • Inventory/Stock Management
  • Fixed Asset Management
  • Financial Reporting

Under Payroll Management, you would be expected to carry out the following tasks;

  • Run monthly payroll for the company
  • Compute the PAYE, the Tier 1 SSNIT and 2nd Tier contributions for the company and pay to the respective Statutory Authority on monthly basis.
  • Issue payroll for casual staff fortnightly and compute the 10% Withholding tax to be paid the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
  • Prepare the cheque to pay staff salary monthly.

Under Inventory/Stock Management, you would be expected to carry out the following tasks

  • Prepare the cheque to pay staff salary monthly.
  • Conduct monthly stock count at Head Office Stores.
  • Conduct periodic site stock taking, at least one every three months for every site.
  • Regulate stock movement from Head Office to site warehouse and from site warehouse to the project manager for use.
  • Schedule and conduct various site audits

Under Fixed Asset Management, you would be expected to carry out the following:

  • Update the Company’s fixed asset register
  • Maintain fixed asset files for every major item of PPE.
  • Carry out physical fixed asset verification at least once every year at Head office and every project site

Under Financial Reporting, you would be expected to carry out the following;

  • Prepare schedule of all Invoices or Certificates issued to clients of the company indicating invoice date, invoice amount, retention component, invoice aging analysis and payment status on monthly basis.
  • Prepare Quarterly Management Account for management decision.
  • Prepare end of year trial balance for the External Auditors
  • Review all accounting entries into Quick books and audit monthly report rendered by the account officer before final submission.
  • Ensure supporting documents from all sites expenses are sent to the Head Office for vetting and filling.
  • Prepare yearly Master Budget for the company and on monthly basis, variance report of budget verses actual should be rendered to management.

Required Skills or Experience

  • A first degree, an advanced degree or Professional certificate in accounting or economics.
Minimum 7 years working experience in the construction industry will be an advantage
