Awudu Adama grew up in Techiman where his mother, a Dagomba still reside. As of 1991, this player was with BA United and nearly joined a club mate Alex Opoku to the World U 17 tournament in Italy. He had another chance two years later this time, Japan 1993 but was sidelined. He was then with Ebusua Dwarfs before joining the then Ghapoha. He joined Kotoko in 1999, then to Dawu Youngsters before Accra Hearts of Oak signed him on.
