GARGANTUAN CORRUPTION
Author: Xzibit, Qatar Posted: 2012-06-16 02:59:14 There have been reported cases of corruption at the nurses and midwives
council of Ghana. Some students alleged that final year nursing students
buy results from the offices of the nurses and midwives council which results
in huge referals. Some students pay as much as GHC 1500 to some unknown
persons who are believed to be at the top of the food chain at the nurses and
midwives council of Ghana to swap results of good performing students for
undeserving ones.I have some list of students from nursing training college
in Cape Coast,Takoradi,Sunyani and Korle Bu who were involved in this
practise. The GoG must set up a committe to investigate these allegations
Names, contact numbers, pictures of these students will be released very soon.
WATCH OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The school authorities and GoG as a matter of fact has failed students of the nursing
training colleges. In my candid opinion,Alban Bagbin must be sacked because
he been bias. Can you treat university students the way you are doing to
nursing training college students? It's about time the students rise up and
sue their principals. The students are going through hell at the hands of
their principals, tutors, clincal trainers e.t.c but they never complain.
The minister should have set up a body to investigate the course of the
misunderstanding. The NDC government is very CORRUPT and this prevents them from
calling their to order. The principals of nursing training in Ghana are
extorting huge amount of monies from students under the disguise of mock
exams. There have been cases of basic human right abuse at the nursing
training colleges and no one has come to the aid of these poor students.
Where HUMAN RIGHT ACTIVIST? God help Ghana!!!

EXPECT MORE DEATHS & LOSS OF PROPERTIES
Author: MARCUS AMPADU Posted: 2012-06-16 09:18:25 Yes the Accra watershed is a lowlying terrain.
The Accra city engineers and townplanners know this, yet together with the AMA they have failed miserably in planning for and enforcing sane, humane, and ecological land use policies.
The perennial flooding has been going on as far back as the 1970's; and I challenge the Daily Graphic to do a better job of providing the public with the accurate dates of some of the devastating floods in Accra. Please check your archive.
The uncontrolled urban sprawl is exacerbating the flooding problem.
Accra has more hard surfaced areas now than before, and the more impervious surfaces, the greater the speed of run-offs when it rains. Wetlands that serve as natural spongs and sinks to absorb excess rain water are filled in and paved over.
And with silted and clogged gutters and drains the result is flooding.
It is incredible how the McCarthy Hill, Bortianor and Wieja areas are fast becoming deforested in the name of development.
But the more rain absorbing vegetation we take out, the worse the flooding.
With more people settling legally and illegally in the catchment area of the Densu-Wieja floodplains, and encroaching on the areas around the Odaw River and Korle-Lagoon, more lives will be lost and more properties will be destroyed with every rainy season.
According to climate change projections, we should expect more flooding from heavier rainfall.
What is the Ghana government, the AMA and its engineers and city planners doing in terms of mitigation and adaptation to avert greater loss of lives and billions of cedis?
