He was an intelligent man, and would have needed no encouragement to step down if he felt incapacitated.
The fact that he sought a second term meant he felt he could carry on and fulfill the mandate given him by both party and nation.
We must laud President Mills for putting the interests of the nation above his own personal interest. He died in the service of his nation.

This is what Rawlings said -- “We have been careless and callous about his health condition,” he stated. He even included himself as part of the blame.
This is what lawyer Okudzato also did -- Lawyer Okudzeto blamed the people around the late President for forcing him to stay in office to execute official duties at the Castle. A very serious accusation which rather has been overlooked. This is the sort of poor assumptions that causes financial losses (judgement debts) to the state. Should Rawlings become part of any legitimate contract, Nii Lantey Vanderpuije will unilaterally abrogate it based on hate and not reality, regardless of the consequences. That has become the norm of the day at the seat of government by both NDC/NPP.
Why taken Rawlings comments out of context. Hypocrites.
