NPP Chair calls for swift action on NDC Organizer’s secret tape

pic 34850102 The Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Jake Obetsebi Lamptey has called for a swift investigation into a secretly recorded tape in which the National Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yaw Boateng Gyan is heard planning to infiltrate the security services and the national security apparatus with loyalists of the ruling party.

The loyalists were to be trained and to advance the party’s agenda in the 2012 general elections.

The NDC organiser in an interview on Adom FM admitted the voice on the tape is his but said no evidence of malice could be pointed to in the tape.

According to him, the the NDC loyalists were recruited to gather information on the newly created National Democratic Party and not to create chaos in the upcoming elections.

But the NPP chairman said the explanation from the NDC organiser cannot be true.

Jake, speaking on Top Story Wednesday, said the expose has vindicated the NPP’s call to its members to be brave and resolute.

He stressed that it was a clear example of the numerous nefarious acts being conducted by the ruling NDC to intimidate its members.

The NPP Chairman said national security operatives, especially the Police, should be empowered so they can act fairly by “bringing people to the bar of justice for the nefarious acts that they have been performing.”

Such a swift move, he said, will send “a clear signal to everybody in this country that whoever you are, we will not tolerate your call to violence.”
