We will not abandon you - Mahama assures Naadu
President John Mahama says government will not abandon Mrs Naadu Mills, wife of Ghana’s late president John Mills.
He also pledged to complete the vision of the late president.
President Mahama said these when he met with the family of Mrs Naadu Mills in Prampram where he began the Greater Accra Thank you tour, Tuesday.
“We can’t start the tour without coming to Prampram” he said, adding “the funeral belongs to you. We went round the country on your behalf” to say thank you to all who supported in making the funeral ceremony a success.
The president extolled the virtues of the late president, stating “enough has been said about Prof Mills. He was a blessing to us. He taught me a lot. I learnt humility and modesty from him.”
Joy News’ Seth Kwame Boateng, who was with the president’s team, reported the meeting was an emotional one.
The former First Lady, Naadu Mills, was present at the meeting, he confirmed, with her relatives giving the president a warm welcome.
From Prampram, the president came to Ashaiman where he met with market women and artisans to spell out his vision to them and expressed his commitment to improve their lot.
Today's tour will also take the president to Teshie and surrounding areas where he will address a durbar of chiefs and people of the Teshie Municipality.
