Kufuor gov’t to blame for ‘annoying’ traffic at Kasoa
The District Chief Executive (DCE) of the Ewutu-Senya District, Mr Nuhu Adams is blaming the erstwhile Kufuor administration for the worsening traffic situation in the Kasoa Township.
He said the Rawlings government in the late '90s had anticipated the situation and planned to reconstruct the Kasoa-Mallam road with a flyover at Kasoa.
However, after losing power to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2000 election, Mr Adams said “the Kufuor administration decided to kick out that element of the flyover…” due to “funding or whatever it [was].”
Speaking in an interview with Myjoyonline.com last Friday, the DCE noted that about forty families move to Kasoa each week, explaining the population explosion over the years had put immense pressure on social amenities in the township, including roads.
“We are still calling on the urban roads to still re-factor those flyovers as well as reconstruct the linkage [roads] within the town…” he stated.
Mr Adams expressed hope that once this is done the congestion on the road will ease by the end of this year.
