Call us and we shall respond - Police
The Police are asking victims and eyewitnesses to armed robbery attacks to alert them on time rather than wait to make complaints later.
DCOP Patrick Timbilla said the police would rather engage the robbers and prevent armed robbery attacks than wait and begin investigations into such attacks.
He was commenting on the series of armed robbery attacks in Dansoman, a suburb of Accra.
Member of Parliament for Afigya Sekyere and Chairman of the Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee Kan Dapaah is the latest victim of armed attack in the vicinity.
He was attacked late Tuesday night by gun men on his return home from Metro TV where he was guest on a current affairs programme.
After several gun shots his car was vandalized but was safe.
DCOP Timbilla wondered how residents of Dansoman will be hearing gun shots and will not bother to alert the police.
Whilst apologizing for the attacks which he described as “sporadic and unplanned” he said the citizens must also play their civic roles as expected.
“Call us and we shall respond," he said, adding “when we don’t come blame us.”
He said if the police is informed after the act, all they can do is to commence “normal investigation.”
He stated however that the police have also intensified patrols to keep armbed robbery attacks in check.
