Three illegal miners killed

Three illegal miners at Anyanfuri in the Central Region were killed instantly when a heap of soil collapsed on them Saturday.

Several other miners sustained severe injuries and are receiving treatment at the Dunkwa Government Hospital.

Central Regional correspondent Richard Kojo Nyarko reported that the miners had been warned to stay away from the mine site but paid no heed.

The Dunkwa Divisional Police Commander, Superintendent Otu Larbi said the bodies are currently deposited at the government hospital there and added that investigations are still ongoing to establish whether more people are trapped.
