Fidelity nominated for ‘Africa Awards for Entrepreneurship’
Fidelity Bank Ghana has been selected among 12 businesses as finalists for the ‘2012 Africa Awards for Entrepreneurship’.
The bank’s nomination in the Transformational Business category comes at a time when it finds itself at an important stage of growth.
As the fastest growing bank in Ghana, Fidelity has expanded from one branch in 2006 to become the seventh largest bank in Ghana and a tier two bank, according to the 2011 PwC report. Its total assets is worth GH¢1.1 billion (USD550 million).
At the 2011 Ghana Club 100 Awards, the Bank attained the 18th position on the ranking of Ghana’s most successful businesses.
Commenting, Managing Director, Edward Effah said, “Right from the start, we were determined to make an impact in Ghana and change the banking industry. I believe this nomination shows that we are on the right track to building a world-class brand on the African continent, in Ghana”.
The ‘Africa Awards for Entrepreneurship’ annual awards which recognizes Africa’s most entrepreneurial and innovation-oriented businesses is under the auspices of the African Leadership Network.
Fidelity Bank Ghana which began operations in 2006 presently has 42 branches across 9 of the 10 regions in Ghana.
It has a customer base of over 250,000, and employing more than 1,400 people.
