pic 72570014 The opposition New Patriotic Party is today holding primaries across the country to elect parliamentary candidates for the 45 newly created constituencies.

From the Kwesi Mintim constituency in Western Region where former Minister of Trade and Industry, Joe Baido Ansah is expecting a keen contest from three other contenders, Ebenezer Afenyi Dadzie reported that the Takoradi Polytechnic, venue for the elections, is a beehive of activity.

There are also primaries in Bia West and Juaboso constituencies in the region, he reported.

The NPP’s Director of Research and Elections Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah told Joy News the elections had gotten off to a smooth start.

He is not expecting any disagreements to arise in the process of conducting the polls.

He said the party, apart from electing candidates for the 45 new constituencies, was also electing a parliamentary candidate for the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam constituency.

The party’s parliamentary candidate for the constituency, Mr. Ato Quainoo died a few weeks ago.
