Dr E M Akita
Author: Mamabimartey Posted: 2012-10-21 07:50:08 IEA, kindly draw some lessons from the US presidential debates. Create something unique for our dear nation Ghana. Care must be taken to use very knowledgeable people who can engage and at the same time moderate decently too without traces of any biases.
Wonderful
Author: BENJAMIN ASARE Posted: 2012-10-21 07:51:28 This is a very positive step to make people listen what each an every political party has for the country when they are eventually voted to power.
Is that democracy?
Author: talented Posted: 2012-10-21 07:53:57 IEA, infact this is not fair to the new political parties springing up in the country.A democratic institution like IEA must know how to practice democracy by given equal rights to all even if the leaders of these smaller political parties are armed robbers. This is not fair at all.I don't expect a credible institution like IEA to be biased.Shame unto all officials of IEA.Your integrity and knowledge is of doubt to a standard 7 person like me.
Re: Presidential debates slated for Oct. 30, Nov.
Author: Tobali atokoo Posted: 2012-10-21 08:26:59 WHY DO WE ALWAYS HAVE TO COPY USA. THIS IS NONSENSE.
Author: KWAME Posted: 2012-10-21 08:48:34 Why is IEA so interested in presidential debates? Do they want to institutionalize this debate?
The ordinary man in the street is interested in the solution of the problems confronting the country to give him/her some reprieve.
This society is virtually an illiterate society and the few of the educated ones want to hijack it not for the good of society but for their selfish agenda.
The time has come to subject every body to the scrutiny and not only politicians. Some of us are hiding behind institutions to cover our inefficiencies. I believe that all institutions being financed by public funds need to be subjected to the efficiency test from now. Government must set up an umbrella body to do this from now. The whole system is inefficient and it is the major cause why Ghana and Africa have become uncompetitive when matched with Europe and the Americas.
It is a challenge to the country to encourage the good ones and by this we are not reffering to academics(the chew and pours')but the innovative and result oriented brains to be in charge.
To me this should be our focus and not these ''useless debates''.
NDOUM WOULD WISH......?
Author: KOKROKOO 1 Posted: 2012-10-21 09:46:22 What modalities are in place to ensure that IEA organises a free and and fair debate?
What structures are in place to ensure that candidates can be held to account for untruths told to the general public?

Making Private NGO's Richer.
Author: Whatever Posted: 2012-10-21 11:09:57 I have strong objection to these debate which is making a private organization richer to the detriment of State institutions such as NCCE. Something has to be wrong with the leadership of the CPP and NDC in attending this debates. Are they not pro state?

THE SAME OLD STORIES.
Author: USMAN Posted: 2012-10-21 12:03:57 We can talk big but we don't know how to implement policies. Just take street naming in Ghana for instance, successive governments have talk so much about it but we have not been able to implement it. The simple reason is that LEGON does not offer such programs and we live in a country where if it is not Achimota and Legon then nothing else.
Hope the debates would be in English
Author: ManBelhomme Posted: 2012-10-21 13:31:12 Not seeking to offend the Country and the numerous languages she has, it would be proper if these debates will be conducted in the Language that these aspirants would be using on the international stage. Comparatively many Ghanaians understand Twi than English yet for the reasons outlined before the present lingua franca would be appropriate." I beg ooo those who don't agree with me make you not insult mee ooo.
Without Nduom, who cares?
Author: Kweku Twum Posted: 2012-10-21 14:35:42 This is stupidity. What are we supposed to learn from a debate of these greedy bastards, none of whom will agree to disclose their assets to the public? Political parties must be broad based and National - how do the PNC and CPP fit that bill, despite their representation in parliament? If my party the Jumping Jokers Congress wins one seat in the Upper West with 2,000 votes does that mean that I, too, can debate some?
Tweeaaaa!

IEA - A stupid and Corrupt NGO
Author: A True Ghanaian Posted: 2012-10-21 19:50:58 If an Organisation like the IEA is staffed with intelligent personnel they would have realised that in a proper democracy and a normal country all candidates who are eligible to be voted for (EC approved) must have automatic rights to form the panel or be the candidates for the debates.
If the IEA is a credible organisation this would be the way to go if they have the interest of Ghana as their core mission but unfortunately in this case like most things in Ghana the IEA is a knowledge bankrupt and most likely riddled with back handers, corruption and nepotism of half-baked intelectuals parading as people with interest of Ghana at heart - LIARS PANTS ON FIRE
