Author: TIN CUTTER Posted: 2012-11-09 01:06:33 INSURANCE OFFICIALS ARE THEMSELVES CORRUPT. I HOPE MELCOM ALSO INSURED ALL THE PROPERTY? I HOPE THE INSURANCE FIRM ALSO INSPECTED THE PREMISES AND CALLED ON THEIR EXPERT BUILDING AGENT TO INSPECT THE BUILDING TO ASCERTAIN ITS FIRMNESS? WHAT WAS THE COMMENTS OF THE INSURANCE COMPANY/FIRM BEFORE MELCOM COMMENCED BUSINESS. ALL THIS HULLABALOOO IS TO THROW DUST INTO THE EYES OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC. INVESTIGATIONS OR COMPENSATION WILL NOT BRING BACK THE DEAD.
SAFETY DOES NOT BLAME...
Author: tkd Posted: 2012-11-09 02:37:57 Safety practices as far as accident investigations are concerned do not blame for the causes of accidents. That is purely an issue of law and to be determined using provisions as established for the safety of commercial and public premises.
Rather it tries to establish causal facts to the accident and suggest remedies so as to prevent future occurrences.
POINT OF CORRECTION.....
Author: Ghanaian Feminist Posted: 2012-11-09 03:13:52 The heading of this article is wrong. How can Employees sue managers for "employee negligence"? It should state "managers negligence" instead. As an illustration, cannot sue another person for a problem the plaintiff have caused himself/herself. Also employees do not have to be insured for safety reasons. If one has to use the Caparo trilogy criteria which incorporates that of 'foresight', 'proximity' &. 'fair, just and reasonable', one will realise that Negligence on the part of managers, contractors and other possible accomplices do exist. I hope the gov't help all the injured, dead ones famillies and that of by-standers who have suffered 'nervous shock' or psychiatric illness as a result of witnessing the disaster take place. May the dead ones RIP and God save those still under the rubble. May He extend his marvellous hand to heal the sick ones.
SUE MELCOM MANAGERS
Author: VAVIOTO Posted: 2012-11-09 05:36:01 USING THE TOP OF THE BUILDING AS A WAREHOUSE THEREBY PUTTING MORE WEIGHT AT THE TOP OF THE BUILDING IS ALSO A CONTRIBUTORY FACTOR FOR THE COLLAPSE OF THE BUILDING. I UNDERSTAND THIS IS WHAT IS PREVAILING AT THE OTHER MELCOM STORES. THEY SHOULD BE IMMEDIATELY ASKED TO STOP THAT PRACTICE BY KEEPING THEIR WAREHOUSES DOWNSTAIRS. WE DO NOT CREATE WAREHOUSES WITH HEAVY EQUIPMENTS ON TOP OF A BUILDING. I THINK THE AUTHORITIES CAN TAKE NOTE AND ENFORCE IT.
Rescue first before blame game, berk!
Author: Jade Posted: 2012-11-09 06:42:44 You call this fool and insurance expert, I call him a toilet cleaner. You have to investigate first before you talk about legal actions.

insurance official
Author: bob Posted: 2012-11-09 07:24:56 This insurance clerk is thief. The responsibilty solely lies with the owner of the property and not the tenants. This so called insurance clerk should read more into landlord/tenant liability and obligation into occupancy of a property.
no right at al,
Author: clarence corlley Posted: 2012-11-09 07:56:44 I do agree that the comnpany must pay compensation to those affected but what underground work did the company undertake before going to start business in the building, there are too many unanswered questions about the way things are done in ghana even right from the office of the president, people taking money for small things like letters, permits, nd this are just little things which would make people life better but for how long can we wait before this madness stops? ,

The danger of not being proactive
Author: Owusu-Banahene Francis (OBF) Posted: 2012-11-09 10:56:56 This is a true example of the danger of not being proactive. Why should we wait for this tragedy before finding out whether the building is given a permit or not?, What will a sue or compensation do to those who have lost their lives?. If the AMA and the management of melcome have been proactive and selfless this could have not happened. {matthew 7:12}. My sincere condolence to the families of the bereaves.
ALL EMPLOYERS MUST INSURE THEIR WORKERS
Author: --zion Posted: 2012-11-09 11:12:25 There should be a law for employers to insure their workers, and be forced to join resources to build mutual clinics where their victims can go to and be paid by thier insurance companies, and not the national or NHS hospitals.........
blame local town and country planning
Author: yawapau Posted: 2012-11-09 15:11:07 In as much as the owners of melcom and the property should be call into account,I think the local district town and country planing must also be brought to book.
Sue AMA Also.
Author: THE TEXAN Posted: 2012-11-09 20:59:34 If AMA had done her job well the building would have been disqualified to be occupied. This is total gross of negligence and inefficiency on the part of AMA.The city authority does not care of life and property and has to be punished.
