The most frequent criticism of Mr. Akufo Addo is with regard to his "pomposity" and the extension of his ego into public discourse without the commensurate awareness that he may have lost control of his manners.
Mr. Akufo Addo's presidential aspirations are blind to the servant-leadership perspective, to first serve in order to lead. The overarching desire to command and control is a weakness, and Ghana's image will suffer for it in the long run. Of course, there have been worse leaders in Ghana's past, but the justification for electing this man is not in repeating bad history. Rather, Ghanians should realize that the future cannot be interpolated from past history, and that the future lies in new faces, new ideas and not remnants from an old and desiccated tradition based on family ties and old money.
