Plot to kill me is political - Amasaman MCE

The Metropolitan Chief Executive of Amasaman who escaped an assassination attempt Thursday morning said the plot was politically motivated.

Nii Armah Tackie would not say whether the plot is coming from within his own party or from opponents, except to add that he has been aware of several plots to kill him.

An assailant armed with a pistol and a friend to the MCE was arrested after he attacked workers at the Amasaman Assembly.

He was reported to have fired two shots at the secretary of the MCE but missed and was overpowered and disarmed as he made his way to the office of the MCE.

The Amasaman Police Commander Kojo Asante told Joy News the suspect is still in custody as investigations continue.

The suspect told the police during interrogation that the MCE had failed to get him a job after he lobbied to have him appointed as MCE.

As police continue with investigations, the MCE told Joy News the suspect was sent to kill him.

Nii Amarh Tackie who admitted knowing the suspect would not say who sent the suspect to kill him.

According to him, several attempts were made, some spiritual, to have him killed but he survived them all.

He said his detractors who want him out of the job he is currently doing have sent him to CHRAJ over ridiculous corruptions allegations but all have proven futile.

He said he has taken this assassination attempt very seriously and has taken all the necessary precautions to protect himself.
