pic 37663179 Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited (GGBL) will launch its latest innovation, Ruut Extra Premium beer, the first Ghanaian beer made using locally grown cassava in the Greater Accra Region.

The company officially outdoored the product onto the Ghanaian market in December 2012 and it has since been available in the Central, Western and Volta regions.

A statement from the company said the product had received positive reviews, particularly for its price of GH¢0.60p, which many say is affordable.

It said the product was available in a stylish 625ml bottle with a distinctive gold metallic label and had an ABV of six per cent.

The Managing Director of Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited, Mr Peter Ndegwa, said the company was proud to be leading the way in beverage innovation with the launch of Ruut Extra Premium beer, as it is the first of its kind ever to be produced in Ghana.

He added that the use of locally grown raw materials was indeed a demonstration of GGBL’s commitment as a business that positively impacted the communities within which they operated, as well as improve the lives of local farmers, especially in vulnerable communities.

For more than a decade, GGBL has been investing in local raw material sourcing; working in partnership with local suppliers and farmers, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, NGOs and researchers to help develop sustainable local raw material supplies through improvement in productivity of farmers.
