Gov’t bans new modules for GYEEDA

Government has temporarily frozen the creation of new modules to the Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Development (GYEEDA), formerly known as National Youth Employment Programme.

Subsequently, recruitment of additional new beneficiaries has also been put on hold in pursuance of government policy of reviewing and re-aligning GYEEDA activities.

Presenting the 2013 budget statement to Parliament for consideration, Finance Minister Seth Terkper indicated the move is one of many measures government intends to implement to improve efficiency in the delivery of services in 2013.

Other measures include: “A review of the allowances of Chiefs to include judicial allowances in response to their adjudication role; the provision of GH?10,000,000.00 to furnish the Parliamentary Tower Block and GH?10,000,000.00 for the construction of MPs Constituency Offices”.

Mr. Terkper announced the re-registration of all government vehicles with GV number plates and an inventory of all government vehicles in all Ministries, Departments and Agencies as well as Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies.

According to him, government allocation of fuel coupons for official use across the Ministries will also be standardized.
