AFAG to hit the streets over hardships

pic 65421445 Pressure group Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) has called on Ghanaians to hit the principal streets of Accra in protest.

The intended demonstration seeks to protest against what AFAG describes as the economic hardships Ghanaians have been subjected to in recent times.

The group, known to be an avowed critic of the ruling National Democratic Congress administration for several reasons, embarked on similar demonstrations in the past.

Factors such as the infamous GHC51 million cedis judgment debt paid to businessman Mr. Alfred Agbesi Woyome necessitated the earlier demonstrations.

AFAG’s Chairman, Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie, in an interview said Ghanaians’ silence on the hardships inflicted on them never meant they were comfortable with the situation.

He said nothing will stop AFAG from pressuring government to adopt pro-poor measures expected to improve the welfare of ordinary Ghanaians.

Dr. Afriyie also cautioned the utility service providers against any attempt to increase tariffs.
