Angry NDC youth protest deputy regional minister nominee

An irate youth group of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Wa Municipality of Upper West on Monday went on rampage and set fire to two billboards of President John Dramani Mahama.

The action of the youth was sparked by news that Mr Abu Kansangbata, the former Nadowli District Chief Executive, has been nominated by the President as the Deputy Upper West Regional Minister-designate.

The two billboards had been mounted around the junction close to the residence of the former Member of Parliament (MP) for Wa Central, Mr M. A. Seidu, and on the Konta junction along the Wa-Kumasi road.

Eyewitnesses told Graphic Online that the action of the youth was to show their disapproval of the nomination of the Deputy Upper West Regional Minister-designate, Mr Abu Kansangbata.

Meanwhile, the regional secretary of the party, Mr Eric Dakurah, has condemned the action, saying it was a violent act and that no true NDC member should support it.

He said the party had initiated investigations into the action of the NDC youth to identify those behind the violence.

He appealed to members of the party to remain calm.
