Seat of Govt remains Flagstaff House

pic 14405134 The name of the seat of government has not been changed. It remains the Flagstaff House, officials have said.

According to a source, ”President John Dramani Mahama has not changed the name of the seat of government from Flagstaff House to Jubilee Flagstaff House, as is being speculated in a section of the media.”

The source close to the presidency told the Daily Graphic Thursday that the president had not considered changing the name of the Flagstaff House or discussed the issue with Cabinet.

"There has been no change of name of the Flagstaff House. The place is still the Flagstaff House," it said.

The source said the Presidency acknowledged that there was a typographical error in one of the press statements which read ‘Jubilee Flagstaff House’ instead of ‘Flagstaff House’.

It said that error, which had generated the debate, had since been corrected and the name Flagstaff House had reflected in subsequent official communication.

"In all pronouncements and documentations, the name is still Flagstaff House," the source said.

It said the President was surprised that the issue about the change of name of the Flagstaff House had become a subject of debate when there was no official statement communicating the change of name.

It explained that in case the President decided to change the name of the Flagstaff House, he would first have to discuss it with Cabinet, which had not been done.

However, the source said, the President did not see any reason to revert the name of the Flagstaff House to Jubilee Flagstaff House.
