3,000 jobs will be created at Takoradi Port - President

Three thousand job opportunities will be created with the completion of the Takoradi Port Expansion project.
This was revealed by President John Mahama during the sod cutting ceremony for the commencement of the Takoradi Port Expansion project on Wednesday.
"… in 2016 when the project is fully completed, a minimum of 3000 permanent job opportunities will be available here in the port. These jobs will include the port authorities, shore handling companies, oil marketing companies and other service providers,” President Mahama said.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Mahama said the port expansion is proof that the government is committed to meeting its campaign promises.
“With this expansion project is said to play a bigger role in the life of Sekondi Takoradi,” he added.
According to President Mahama, one of the reasons why he is excited about the completion of the project is that, beyond the increased business it will bring the port authorities and the employment opportunities that will come with it, “already over 400 temporary workers have been engaged and that is expected to move up to 600 when other faces of the project finishes.”
