Polo: Delaney Petroleum win Vodafone Open

Delaney Petroleum last Saturday beat Logi-Plus 7-41 to emerge champions at this year’s Vodafone Cup Accra Open at the Accra Polo Club.

Players of Delaney were decorated with medals and the ultimate Accra Open trophy by the Omanhene of New Juaben Traditional Area, Daasebre Oti Boateng.

The three-day sport of kings and queens event attracted four teams namely; Logi-Plus, Delaney Petroleum, WDP Construction and Rivonia Ghana Limited.

The best pony award went to Pelanegra ridden by Damian Duncan, captain of Delaney Petroleum, while the Most Valuable Player award went to Baba Dawule of Logi-Plus.

Dasebre Oti Boateng, in an address, called on the society to endeavour to add sports to work to reduce stress and prolong life.

He urged Ghanaians to take part in recreational activities to unite for a common purpose.

Mr Kwakye Dopoah-Dei, the captain of the Accra Polo Club and president of the Ghana Real Estate Developers Association (GREDA), noted that the current successes being chalked up by the sport would reach a crescendo next year with an action plan to involve more Ghanaians.
