It was reported that Boateng returned home after the incident before calling police.

Bild has reported Boateng had visited his son at his ex-wife's house on Christmas Day, was hit once and fell onto a vase.

The paper's website said he checked himself into hospital with bruised ribs, neck and back.

After posting an image with family on Christmas Eve the only Twitter activity on Boateng's official profile has been a photo of a Rolex watch with the comment, 'It's TIME.'
