Tamale NDC youth calls for elections at all levels

A group calling itself the NDC Coordinating Team of Tamale is unhappy about delays in holding elections to elect constituency, regional and national elections.

The group is of the view that any further delays could affect the NDC’s chances of retaining power in 2016.

For this reason, the group is advocating for the release of a time table indicating when the elections will be conducted in line with the party’s constitution.

At a media briefing in Tamale, Secretary to the NDC Coordinating Team of Tamale, Issaka Sadik disclosed that the regional elections were expected to be conducted in August 2013.

According to him, the NDC won the 2012 elections with the slimmest margin and should not allow complacency to erode their successes in 2016.

“Statistics indicates that NDC did not win the 2012 elections with bigger margin that could compel its leaders to relax; the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on the other hand is putting its pieces together, electing its leaders to start the race towards elections 2016.”

He emphasized, “It is against this background that we are calling on the national executives to wake up from their slumber and to let us know what is holding them and when these elections are going to be conducted.”

Issaka Sadik warned that any further postponement will lead to mass action against the national executives.
