Two ladies robbed; one raped

Police in Wa are hunting for two men who are alleged to have robbed two ladies and later raped one of them at knife point in the bush at New Tangasia in the Kaleo-Nadowli district of the Upper West region.

The two men stopped, attacked the victims at knife point, took all personal effects after which they allegedly raped one of them in a nearby bush and bolted.

The two ladies were returning from their shop at the Wa Magazine on Saturday, when the bandits attacked them in front of their house around 9:30pm. They were riding a motor bike and wielding cutlasses.

"They told me that I should bend down if I don't do it then they were going to use the cutlass on me so I was forced to bend down and after that [raping her] they left me there," one of the victims narrated to Joy News' Rafiq Salaam.

She, however, said she could not recognise the attackers because the incident happened in the dark and there was no light.

The police are said to have launched a man-hunt to bring the perpetrators to book.
