Kofi B, Koo Ntakara for Mamfe Ohum festival

The chiefs, elders and people of the Mamfe Traditional Area in the Eastern Region are set for their annual Ohum festival and a big musical event has been planned for Friday, January 17 as part of the festivities.

The festival, which is from Saturday, January 11 to Saturday, January 18, has the night of music as one of the main activities.

Artistes slated for the bash at the popular Attabula Spot in Mamfe include highlife star Kofi Yiadom Boakye, better known as Kofi B; Koo Ntakara of MTN Hit-Maker 2 fame and an up-and-coming act called Angel.

Kofi B is virtually a household name in this country, having entrenched himself on the music scene with catchy highlife pieces like ‘Mmobrowa’, ‘Twa Me Keke’, ‘Koforidua Flowers’, ‘Belinda’ and ‘Ekua Ataa’. He is the best-known among the artistes on parade and is eager to lift up the event to the expected level.

Koo Ntakara was winner of the last MTN Hit-Maker talent contest held late last year. His first major outing after the contest was on the MTN Legends and Legacy (LAL) Ball that honoured AB Crentsil.

He has since then been on a few more big platforms and welcomes the challenge to showcase his abilities in his home region. Green FM deejays will also be on hand to support the music event.

Theme for the MTN-sponsored Mamfe Ohum festival is ‘Equipping the Youth With Life’s Skills: The Way of ICT.’

As part of its activities for the week-long festival, the telecommunications company has already presented GHc3, 000, free airtime, drinks and assorted souvenirs to the people of Mamfe. The items were received by Mamfehene, Nana Ansah Sasraku III.
