Emelia is Miss Akyem Kotoku

A twenty-one year old former student of Yaa Asantewaa Girls’ Senior High School, Miss Emelia Awurama Gyamfuah Danso was crowned Miss Akyem Kotoku on New Year’s Eve at Akyem Oda.

The event held at the Methodist Conference Centre formed part of activities marking the Christmas festivities at Akyem Oda.

The well- attended programme organised by Piopevent, an Oda-based event organiser saw the second position go to Miss Vanessa Antwiwaa Boateng, a former student of Krobo Girls’ SHS. Miss Annabella Linda Addison, a third year student of St. Francis SHS came third.

For winning the ultimate prize, Miss Danso received GH¢500.00 cash, a three-month training course at Uniworld Skills College, Oda and a photo billboard.

She also went home with a four-week grooming from X’tra Touch Beauty Palace, Oda, respectively as well as becoming an ambassador for the Akyem Kotoku Traditional Area.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Birim Central Municipal Director of the National Youth Authority, Mr Kwabena Archer stressed that the Miss Kotoku event was a platform to identify and support young girls who were talented, eloquent and bold and ready to hold the mantle for themselves as well as Akyem Kotoku.

He said “People who have the ‘I can’t do it attitude’ in them should see the contestants as role models and do what they can to contribute to nation building than making no attempt at all”.

Mr Archer, therefore, made a passionate appeal to reputable organizations to offer financial support to the Miss Kotoku event because it served as a platform for the youth to exhibit their talents.

The event was supported by Quality Mineral Water, Rabbson Hotel, X’tra Touch Beauty Palace, Reipmedia Empire, Punch Studio and Uniworld Skills College.
