Allegations against Volta MPs untrue - Quarshigah

Member of Parliament (MP) for Keta, Richard Quarshigah, has denied accusations that MPs from the Volta Region have neglected the region.

A group of Queenmothers headed by the Queenmother of the Alavanyo Traditional, Mamaga Ametor have accused political figures in the region including Assemblymen, District Chief Executive (DCEs) and MPs of reneging on their promise to help improve the living conditions of people in the region.

In an interview with Citi News, Richard Quarshigah said MPs are playing their roles effectively as expected.

He explained that political figures in the region “ensure that we stay in Parliament to do the business of the House… and when necessary, raise issues that border on the development of the region and the concerns of the region.

According to him, MPs also make the effort to interact with the constituents to know what their problems are and therefore expressed surprise at the accusation being leveled against them.
