NDP challenges Mahama to fix the economy

The National Democratic Party (NDP) has challenged government to stop making more promises but rather fix the nation’s ailing economy.

According to President Mahama, the government’s economic management team led by Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has begun the implementation of government’s 2014 budget.

Also at a recent media encounter spearheaded by the ministry of information and media relations, the Finance Minister, Seth Terkper, debunked the assertion that the economy was in disrepair.

Not convinced by the President and his Finance Minister’ assurances, Deputy Communications Director of the NDP, Ernest Owusu Bempah said Ghanaians are tired of the rhetorics.

He bemoaned the astronomical depreciation of the cedi against the dollar. He also called for swift action to bring the cedi value back on track.

Owusu Bempah impressed upon government to make the economy robust by judiciously using income derived from the oil fields and other mineral resources to assuage the suffering of the masses.

“We live in a country whereby we have natural resources in abundance, but we are not benefiting from them due to lack of leadership to manage the economy effectively.”
