Appiah doubts local players inclusion in World Cup Squad

Ex-Black Stars Captain Stephen Appiah has cast doubts over the inclusion of any of the local Black Stars players in the final World Cup squad ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup tournament in Brazil.
Appiah’s comment comes in the wake of calls for the inclusion of some players of the CHAN team into the World Cup squad especially as they reached the finals of the CAF tournament and only lost to eventual winners Libya.
Delving deep into his experience as a footballer, Appiah believes the local players have to work extra harder to make the trip to Brazil especially as most of the current Black Stars players are playing at higher levels.
Though Black Stars coach Kwasi Appiah has hailed some of the local boys for their performance in South Africa and has assured them of the possibility of their inclusion to the World Cup squad, Stephen Appiah thinks the World Cup is a bigger platform than the CHAN tournament and needs extra effort to be there.
“The CHAN tournament is totally different from the World Cup because of the level of players who play there, and so, calls for their inclusion should only urge them on to work extra harder,” he told Accra based Asempa Sports.
Ghana’s Black Stars will make their third successive FIFA World Cup appearance in Brazil in June this year after an impressive showing in the 2006 and 2010 editions.
